Last month, Zioptan (tafluprost ophthalmic solution), Preservative-Free Ophthalmic Medication by Merck was approved by US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Zioptan is used for reducing increased blood pressure in the eye in patients with glaucoma. The drug is also approved for use in patients with high eye pressure (ocular hypertension) which may lead to glaucoma. Estimated 4.5 million people face blindness due to glaucoma and glaucoma is the second leading cause for blindness.
